Home Sweet Home - Part Uno

story by Jephael

AUTHOR'S NOTES: This story takes place about thirty-five years after the events of "The Summer I was Young Again"! The first half of this story is written the normal way, while the second part is written in script form!

Somewhere in a cartoonish reality, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck were having a lively conversation about where to take their girlfriends on a cheap double date.
"So if we take Lola and Tina to the ice cream parlor after differ, then-" the black-feathered fowl's train of thought was interrupted by a strange noise that came from outside their house.
"Hold that thought, Daff!" the rascally rabbit said as he went to the front door and opened it only to see two figures standing on the porch. "Eh, you guys selling vacuum cleaners or something?"
Jeff and Patrick had appeared through a dimensional portal. "No, nothing like that. We were just testing out a friend's uh... new wave mode of transportation and ended up here!"
"Well, transport yourselves somewhere else! We're busy trying to make plans with our significant others!" Daffy said sharply.
Bugs groaned ad he nibbled nervously on a carrot. "Pay him no mind. Listen, if you're lost, there's a group of kids the next town over."
"Great, thanks! Have fun on your date!" Patrick said as Daffy shut the door on them.
"Okay, something tells me we need to get outta here!" Jeff said as he and Patrick headed down the street.
"Wait, since when are Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck roommates?" Patrick asked.
"Since Donatello's new dimensional portal somehow landed us in Cartoon Network's more modern iteration of the Looney Tunes! For all we know, we might've ended up smack dab in someone's unfinished plans for an episode!"
"That would explain why the neighborhood seems to have gone from a full blown painted background into a pencil sketch!"
"Yep. It's like that one episode of Fairly OddParents!"
"So what do we do, Jeff?"
"Bugs mentioned a group of kids who might be of help to us."
"That could be like of any number of cartoons though!"
"Hey, we could even up in some surreal version of that high school series we made up back when we first met!"
"The Sanctum? Boy, that would be crazy!" Patrick said with a laugh.
"Yea. Too bad I scrapped all of my notes on it after we abandoned it. Well, whatever or whoever we end up facing, I can always contact Don and have him portal us back home!" Jeff exclaimed as he pulled out his Turtle Comm.
"Uh Jeff, how come we're now in a pitch black void?"
"Just hang tight, man! I'm sure we're just shifting into the next show, or whatever!"
The black void soon was replaced by what looked like a long stretch of road in a heavily wooded area. "Looks like we've ended up in Coolsville!" Patrick said as he pointed to a very familiar blue and green van.
"The Scooby-Doo gang? Oh this is gonna be loads of fun!" Jeff said as he put his Turtle Comm back in his belt.
"I wonder if this is going to be the same Scooby-Doo gang that met the guys on Supernatural!" Patrick said as the Mystery Machine pulled up.

"Jeepers! What're you two doing out on this road so late at night?" Daphne Blake asked as she poked her head out the window.
"Oh, we're just passing through. My name's Jeffrey and this is Patrick."
"Nice to meet you two." Fred Jones replied. "We're on our way to this creepy old tavern that's being haunted by a scary looking phantom."
"Like yea, and we're almost outta Scooby Snacks!" Shaggy Rogers said as he and his faithful Great Dane were in the back shivering with fright.
"Would you guys like to join us?" Velma Dinkley asked.
"Oh, of course!" Jeff stated as he and Patrick entered the van.
"You know, this kinda reminds me of an adventure we had a while back with those two brothers, Sam and Dean!" Daphne spoke, confirming Patrick's earlier query.
"Oh yea, those two were weird! They had us thinking ghosts, ghouls and monsters were actually real!" Velma scoffed.
"Yea, imagine that!" Jeff remarked sarcastically.
"I still say you had a thing for that Sam fella, Velma!" Daphne teased.
Velma couldn't help but blush. "Yea, well, that Dean character was practically drooling over you!"
"He what?!" Fred said in surprise, causing the car to nearly avoid missing a turn in the road. He quickly jerked the wheel at the last second, causing everyone to squash into one another. "Sorry about that."
Jeff made an exasperated sigh as he commented "You know, it's probably a good idea to hold off all conversations until we get to our destination!"
"Yea, and... it just occurred to me that this vehicle is lacking seatbelts." Patrick stated.
Soon enough, the gang made it to the tavern. "So is this based on an actual episode of Scooby-Doo, or..." Patrick asked quietly as he and Jeff exited the van.
"Who knows? It's a little difficult to keep track of all their adventures." Jeff replied. "Though I'm definitely certain we're in the original series era, given Daphne and Fred's classic ascots! Plus we already established that they remember the incident with the dudes from Supernatural!"
"It sure would be funny if Scrappy-Doo were to pop up out of nowhere!"
"Well, he didn't show up until 1978 when their ratings started to-" Jeff's train of thought was cut short by a voice squealing...
  "Tada-da-da-da-da!!! Puppy power!"
"Hey, Scrappy! It's good to see you!" Daphne said as she patted the little dog on the head.
"I'm always more than happy to help good old Uncle Scooby and the Mystery Inc team! Say, who're those two fellas?" the little dog asked, pointing to Jeff and Patrick.
"Oh, they're just a couple of new friends we met on the way over here!" Velma answered.
"Now I'm kinda wishing we were in the live action movie." Patrick said with a laugh.
"Okay, enough with the random banter and introductions! We've got us a mystery to solve!" Fred stated in a heroic manner.
"Too bad Leonardo didn't come with us!" Jeff said with a chuckle.
"Hey, that reminds me. Are you able to mutate into your turtle form here?" Patrick asked.
"Most likely, but I don't want to go freaking them out."
"Like what're you two going on about?" Shaggy asked.
"Oh uh, we were just talking about my cat." Patrick said.
"Ru rav a rat?" Scooby asked.
  "Yea, a little calico."
"Aw, that sounds cute!" Daphne replied. "Fred, maybe you and I should get a little kitty."
"Uh, I think I might be allergic to them!" Fred said sheepishly.
"Yea right! Now come on, we have a phantom to hunt down!" Velma said sternly as they headed into the tavern.
"I said that earlier!" Fred griped.
Scooby and Shaggy both began to tremble with fright as the dimly lit tavern was void of any signs of life.
"Like W-w-why is it always so freaking c-c-cold in these places?!"
"Probably because it adds to the creepiness." Velma replied.
Just then a large cloaked figure wearing a mask snuck up behind Jeffrey who instinctively punched in the face. "Oh no you don't!"
"Whoa, that was incredible!" Daphne said with excitement.
"Eh, it's all in the wrist."
"I give up!" the mysterious figure said as he pulled off his mask.
"Why it's... um, we really never actually got the chance to meet any possible suspects." Fred mentioned.
"Yea, and we never got to look for clues!" Velma added.
"Like I dunno, gang. I'm kinda glad this got wrapped up right away for a change!" Shaggy boasted.
"Dang, that was one hell of a left hook, you got there!" the man said, rubbing his jaw where Jeff's fist landed.
"What exactly was your scheme, Mister?" Patrick asked.
"My cousin and I opened a classy restaurant just a half mile up the road, and this tavern keeps getting all of our business!"
"So instead of oh say, working on advertising your business, you chose to terrorize your competition?! Yep, that checks out as a classic Scooby-Doo villain!" Jeff remarked.
"Yea, and I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids!!!"
  "Scooby, Dooby Doo!!!"
The Scooby gang all laughed humorously at their K-9 companion, just as Jeff's Turtle Comm went off. "Hey Don!"
"Jeff, are you and Patrick all right? I momentarily lost track of you after you went through the portal!" Donatello's voice rang out.
"It's all good. Patrick and I were just helping out the Mystery Inc kids!"
"Aw man, they got to meet the Scooby gang?" Michaelangelo could be heard griping in the background.
Donatello chuckled. "I can bring you back, but just be prepared. We ended up with some unexpected company!"
"Sounds good!" Jeff said as he turned to the Scooby gang. "Hey uh, me and Patrick have to leave. It was nice meeting you guys!"
  "Likewise!" Velma spoke.
Jeff and Patrick headed outside of the tavern where a large glowing dimensional portal opened, which they jumped through... which the Mystery Inc. gang were completely oblivious to.
