AUTHOR'S NOTES: This story takes place almost six years after the events of "The Summer I was Young Again". Originally, this was intended to be an audio recording featuring myself with the voice cast of the original cartoon when I got to see them at Sci-Fi Valley Con [see My Reptilian Roots] but due to extenuating circumstances, that idea was scrapped.


        On a warm Saturday afternoon at the Oughtons' residence, Jeff and the Ninja Turtles were in the living room watching a pre-recorded episode of the popular TV sitcom The Drew Carey Show. This episode in particular was purposely made to incorporate many mistakes and gags, much like the classic animated series the Turtles themselves originated from, except those animation goofs weren't on purpose!
  "How many jokes and gags have we caught so far, dudes?" Michaelangelo asked.
  "45." Jeff answered.
  "Close, but no cigar. He said there were at least 50 goofs!" Donatello replied.
  "That's gotta be atleast 3 times more than our show had per season." Raphael joked. "Want me to rewind the tape again?"
  "Go ahead! I gotta stretch a bit. Sitting between the four of you can get pretty uncomfortable!" Jeff said as he got up from his place on the couch.
    Leonardo let out an exasperated sigh. "This has to be the 5th time we watched this stupid April Fools episode! I'd rather re-watch that one where Drew and his girlfriend get in trouble for fooling around in the Batmobile!"
    "Dude, the grand prize for this contest is over $20,000! Think of how many pizzas we could buy!!!" Mikey said in excitement. "Besides, if you're bored, you can go out and mow the lawn or something! I'm sure Jeff's parents would appreciate it."
    "I hate to burst our collective bubbles, but it just occurred to me that we might be automatically disqualified anyway." Donatello mentioned. "I mean after all, we are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
  "Oh that explains why I only have three fingers on each hand and two toes on each foot! I thought I was just some freak of nature!" Raphael remarked in his usual sarcastic tone.
    "Donatello makes a good point." Jeff mentioned. "As far as most of the world is concerned, you guys are technically fictional characters brought to life, and everyone knows how close I am with you, which makes me a celebrity of sorts!"
  Raphael and Michaelangelo both let out a sigh. "Well, there's two hours of our day out the window!" the latter griped.
  "We really should go out and get some fresh air anyway. It's a great day to do some good old ninja training!" Leonardo said excitedly,
  "Okay, but afterwards lets go catch a movie or something!" Donatello suggested.
  "Lets not forget to get ourselves some pizza!"
    "Oh, Michaelangelo... you are so predictable!" Raphael remarked as he used the remote control to turn off the television set. "I gotta say though, we sure have adapted well to this cozy suburban life! Besides, if we ever got homesick for the sewers, we can just spend an evening in Philadelphia!"
  "I wonder what their sewers are like." Leonardo said as they all got up and walked through the kitchen.
  "I dunno, but I bet they reek of cheese-steaks!" Donatello joked as he opened the doorway to the backyard patio, and they all shared a good laugh.
